We are very pleased at Artist Response to work with Felixson Shukuru as he establishes himself in the music industry. Shukuru is an upcoming Gospel Artist based in Lilongwe Malawi that has a great passion for music.
What drew our attention to him is the passion and uniqueness of his music that summed up in his new single.I was introduced to the song when a friend forwarded it to me, after listening to it, I could feel the goosebumps all over my body.The song is a classic.
When you listen to the song you will agree with me that Shukuru is a very talented, upcoming artist that sings with passion. When I heard the song 'Fikako', I knew the guy was on to something.
Shukuru's plan is to release a new song every month to help inspire faith and hope in Jesus.
Fikako is a chichewa word which means Reach there, the song tells a story of how the author walked a long distance that was tiring and saw an interesting hill.Upon asking people they told him that his thirst and curiosity wont be fulfilled but he has to reach there himself.The hill was not only just beautiful, there was something special bout it.People coming from the mount were happy and smiling, they must have seen something or experienced something unknown to the author.
He had to reach there himself, and when he reached there the song says, he saw a cross and upon this cross that all hope for life , peace and future hangs.Jesus Christ is the theme of the song.
The artist admonishes us to reach there for ourselves.Have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
Shukuru lives in Dzaleka Refugee Camp, located in Dowa district, Malawi, one of the most populated refugee camps in Africa.As we would expect, life is not easy in such condition.More than half of Malawians live on less than $1 per day. The vast majority rely on subsistence farming.
The artist is dedicated nonetheless and with a little bit of help he will be good to go.
